All of our Corps Members engage in individual advocacy projects; they pick their topics during YASI and work on them throughout the school year. The projects cover a wide range of topics, including:

Bringing more mental health services to East New York

Increasing student access to contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies

Providing vital resources to immigrants in the Bronx who may be eligible for public health assistance of some kind

Erasing the stigma around mental health in the high school environment

Providing mentoring services to younger students to boost their self confidence and provide role models

Reducing the number of tobacco smokers, using artwork and social media to spread the message that smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in America
